Install a VPN Client and Connect - Mac

In order to access a Remote Desktop Workspace, you will need to connect to a virtual private network (VPN) from your computer. Once connected, you will log in to the networked computer via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) where you will have secure access to the workspace.

Instructions

Install Client

  1. Go to https://tunnelblick.net/downloads.html and download the latest stable release of the installer. 

     

  2. Open the installation file and double click the Tunnelblick icon. Ensure you have administrator privileges to complete the installation.

  3. Once completed, a Tunnelblick icon will appear in the menu bar.

Move Configuration Files and Connect

  1. Prior to connecting to the VPN you will need to move your VPN credentials zip file (received after Workspace approval) into Tunnelblick.

  2. Unpack the VPN credentials zip file on your desktop. The file will contain:

    1. Personal Information Exchange File

    2. KEY file

    3. OpenVPN Config File

  3. Drag the configuration file to the Tunnelblick menu bar icon.

     

  4. Once the configuration file is installed, select the Tunnelblick icon in the top menu bar and click on VPN Details…

  5. In the Configuration Panel, navigate to the Settings panel. Change the OpenVPN version from Default to 2.5.9 and connect to the VPN with the provided password. You are now connected to your OBI workspace VPN.
