Applying for a Workspace

These instructions outline how Integrated Discover Program (IDP) investigators may apply for a Workspace. If you are an External (Public Data Release) User, please review our Workspaces for Data Releases article.

Instructions

  1. Log into the Brain-CODE portal with your account credentials.

  2. Click the Forms tab from the top right-hand meu and select the Workspace Access Request Form from the drop-down menu.

  3. You will be redirected to the New Workspace Request Form where you will find a copy of our Workspace Manual and a list of instructions. Please read them over and then click Next Page.

  4. To navigate through the form, use the Previous Page and Next Page buttons found at the bottom of the page. Please enter your contact information and then press Next Page.

  5. Please enter a description of why you need a workspace as well as some details about the types of data you will be working with and then click Next Page.

  6. Please enter some details about the hardware you will require as well as the type of workspace and analytic tools you will need, then press Next Page.

For a project looking to analyze clinical data, we would recommend either R Studio Web or, if tools other than R Studio (such as Python) are required, a Windows (Remote Desktop), both with the default hardware values:

    Cores: 2
    Disk Space: 25GB
    Memory: 8GB

For a project looking to analyze more than clinical data such as imaging or “omics” data your needs will depend on the type of analyses and pipelines you wish to run, we would encourage you to reach out by raising a request ticket (Type: General Inquiry) if you need assistance determining your hardware requirements.

  7. Please enter the length of time you will need your Workspace for and then press Next Page. Workspaces can be requested for a maximum of 1 year (365 days), with the option of requesting a 1 year renewal 30 days before the end date.

  8. To submit the request, you must sign the Workspace User Agreement. For a complete review of the Brain-CODE Governance Policy, please click here.

  9. Please provide your signature at the end of the form by clicking Add signature. An Add signature window will open that will allow you to sign using your mouse or a touchscreen device. Click Save Signature.

  10. Click Submit once completed. It will take approximately 5 business days for your request to be processed. Updates will be sent to the email entered.

  11. When your Workspace has been approved, you will receive an email alerting you of the approval. This email will include your Workspace ID, Requester Surname, Modification Pin, and a link to additional modification forms.
