Introduction to Marking

Marking data in a visualization allows you to…

  • point out subsets of data

  • mark corresponding data in other visualizations

  • view details about the data

Once data is marked, it may be given an identifying colour in the visualization or the marked data may be kept as they were while all unmarked items fade (as seen below).

Instructions

To mark a single item:

  1. Click on the item.

To mark one or more items in a visualization, do any of the following:

  1. Click and drag with the mouse to draw a rectangle enclosing the items of interest.

  2. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on all the items of interest.

  3. Hold down the Alt key and draw a shape of any form to enclose the items

To remove all markings:

  1. Click the Reset button.

Not all visualizations allow marking
