Getting Started

Welcome to Pilot!

Pilot is a comprehensive data platform solution developed by Indoc Systems for the secure management,
analysis, and sharing of data. Pilot offers a rich, web-based graphical user interface (the Portal) and a full-featured Command Line Interface (pilotcli), a binary executable program that provides advanced users with convenient tools for performing file actions and platform-related tasks programmatically. Pilot is designed to be customizable to fit the unique needs of individual research projects, while also being scalable to maintain optimal performance for projects of any size.

Getting Help

If you need help using Pilot, several resources are available to you. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, you can contact our support team.

View your User Profile

  • Click the user icon in the top right corner of any page and select your Account profile. The account page displays your user profile information, Project membership, password and 2FA settings, API key settings, and recent activities relating to your account.

Consult the User Guide

  • The User Guide provides information on how to use the features of the Pilot platform. You can access the User Guide by clicking the link in the Support side panel after logging in.

Submit a Support Inquiry

  • Anyone can submit a Support inquiry from the Pilot website by using the Support link in the page footer.

  • Logged-in users can view the Support panel by clicking the support icon from the top of any page. Here, you will find a link to the User Guide, download instructions for the pilotcli, and a Contact Us window to submit a Support inquiry.

Watch for Upcoming Maintenance Updates

  • A Platform Administrator may announce planned maintenance by posting a notice displayed as a banner when you log into the portal. If you see an Upcoming Maintenance notice, take note of future downtime periods and plan your platform use to minimize the impact on your work.

 

 

Data Flows and User Roles

Data Storage Zones:

Pilot provides segregated data storage zones for Project data of different sensitivities. These zones are known as the Green Room and the Core. User Roles:

Pilot uses Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to enable secure and appropriate access to platform features. With RBAC a series of User Roles are established each with a set of defined permissions.

For Example, Pilot offers three default Project user roles - Contributor, Collaborator, and Administrator. Below Is a high-level breakdown of the permissions for each default Project Roles
