Two-factor authentication (sometimes referred to as two-step login) is implemented on Brain-CODE’s Seafile. Logging in to Seafile will soon require an additional step to verify your identify when accessing certain projects or personal settings.
For authentication, Seafile uses Google Authenticator. You will need to (1) download the Google Authenticator app on your phone (2) access a code through the Token Generator app, and (3) enter the 6 digit code into Seafile within 60 seconds.
Please note, before attempting to set-up two factor authentication on Seafile, please ensure you clear your cache/cookies.
Setting up Two Factor Authentication (2FA) on Seafile
You will be prompted to scan a QR code on your smartphone using the Google Authenticator app to begin using the token generator. Once scanned, you will be shown a six digit authentication token within the app.
You will be provided with a list of backup tokens. Please save these backup tokens securely in the event that your don’t have your phone for 2FA.
Entering your Google Authenticator Code
After entering your Seafile login credentials, username and password, you will be asked for an Authentication token via the following screen:
Enter the authentication token provided by Google Authenticator app into the textbox to verify your login.
Using Backup Tokens
If your Google Authentication app is unavailable or not working, you may use a backup token to verify your login. Select Enter a two-factor backup code in the two-factor authentication login notification.
Enter a backup token into the textbox to verify your login. Please note that backup tokens can only be used once.
