How to Export REDCap Reports and Study Data
Once you’ve built a report in REDCap, you may want to export the data into different file types.
Before you get started, ensure you have report creation and data export permissions. Contact your Study Manager or Project Manager if you require them, so they make request access on your behalf.
Instructions
Select Data Exports, Reports, and Stats from the Applications menu on the left-hand side.
To export all available data (subject to visibility permissions), click the Export Data button adjacent to All Data (1). To only export the data selected from a particular report, find the report of interest and click the Export Data button adjacent to the title (2). If you are interested in learning more about creating REDCap reports, please review How to Create Basic REDCap Reports.
A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to select your desired data output. De-identification options are also available to remove identifier fields or hash the Record IDs. Advanced formatting options are available to set the CSV delimiter character and force all numbers into a specified decimal format. Once you have selected your preferred options, click the Export Data button to begin the download.
If the export is successful, a window will open with the message
Data export was successful!
Select the file type you prefer to begin the download. You should now have a local copy of the exported data.
