What is a Data Access Committee?
DAC is an acronym for Data Access Committee.
What is the purpose of a Data Access Committee (DAC)?
To develop data access and sharing policies, which address eligible users, data embargoes, acknowledgement and ethics requirements.
To manage data access, examine requests for the risk of identifiable data disclosure and recommend the approval of data access, in accordance with the data access policy.
To make recommendations to the Informatics Steering Committee regarding the release of data to third parties.
Who comprises a DAC?
Members of the DAC include representatives from research, neuroinformatics, and the Ontario Brain Institute.
Under no circumstances will the DAC recommend issuing third party access to Brain-CODE controlled data without a valid approval from the third party’s Research Ethics Board.
What does the DAC take into consideration when making a decision?
The DAC may consider the scientific merit of the data access, including the assessment of a user’s affiliations and research hypothesis.
