Two-factor authentication (sometimes referred to as two-step login) is implemented on Brain-CODE’s Seafile. Logging in to Seafile will soon may require an additional step to verify your identify when accessing certain projects or personal settings.
There are two options implemented for authentication on Seafile:
Email Verification - receive a code through email and enter into Seafile within X.XX minutes
Token Generator - receive a code through a Token Generator (i.e. Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator etc.) app and enter into Seafile within X.XX minutes
After entering your login credentials (username and password), you will see the following on scree:

Email Authentication
There is no advance setup required to authenticated by email. follow the stpes below to log into Seafile using email verification.For authentication, Seafile uses Google Authenticator. You will need to (1) download the Google Authenticator app on your phone, (2) access a six digit code through the Token Generator app, and (3) enter the code into Seafile within 60 seconds.

Setting up Two Factor Authentication (2FA) on Seafile
You will be prompted to scan a QR code on your smartphone using the Google Authenticator app to begin using the token generator. Once scanned, you will be shown a six digit authentication token within the app.

Entering your Google Authenticator Code
After entering your Seafile login credentials, username and password, you will be asked for an Authentication token via the following screen:

Enter the authentication token provided by Google Authenticator app into the textbox to verify your login.
Using Backup Tokens
If your Google Authentication app is unavailable or not working, you may use a backup token to verify your login. Select Enter a two-factor backup code in the two-factor authentication login window to access the backup code verification window and enter a backup token into the textbox to verify your login.

Please note that backup tokens can only be used once, so remove that token from your securely stored list of tokens once used. If you need to view or regenerate your backup tokens, you may do so within your account Settings. |
